On 24th September 2024, MIT Degree College hosted NSS Day. The Principal, Dr. Manju B. inaugurated the program with a symbolic act of watering a plant, emphasizing the importance of conserving nature. Dr. Manju. B spoke about the pressing issue of “Plants Vs Plastic” and encouraged the youth to understand the significance of preserving the environment.

Shri Shivaraj G.D , NSS program officer and the event’s speaker, discussed the day’s significance, urging students to embrace self-discipline and voluntarily engage in initiatives that promote environmental conservation. He emphasized the role of personal responsibility in these efforts.

L. Kiran Kumar, NSS program officer from the Maharaja Institute of Technology, spoke about the importance of NSS Day and the pivotal role NSS plays in shaping students’ lives. He highlighted the value of state and national campaigns and motivated students to take an active part in these events.

Additionally, Shri Mahadeva K. M
a Kannada Assistant Professor at MIT Degree College, stressed the importance of extracurricular activities in NSS, explaining how such involvement aids in the holistic development of students. Another NSS program officer, Smt. Hemalatha discussed the responsibility that students have in conserving and protecting nature.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from both students and NSS volunteers, underscoring the collective commitment to environmental conservation and active involvement in the NSS mission.
